The Chicago Scots enthusiastically invite everyone who is Scottish by birth, by heritage or simply by inclination to come and enjoy an evening steeped in history and Scottish fun. The celebration of Scotland will include an exquisite dinner, live entertainment including bagpipers, Highland Dancers, a lively ceilidh, auction and much more.

BE PART OF HISTORY

The Chicago Scots’ annual Saint Andrew’s Day Gala, “the Feast of the Haggis” is the oldest continuously running black tie dinner in Chicago.  On December 1st 1845, when Chicago’s population was just 12,000, a group of Scots gathered at the city’s finest hotel, the Lake House, to celebrate Saint Andrew’s Day. They formed the Illinois Saint Andrew Society, the first and still the oldest 501c3 not-for-profit in Illinois.

BE PART OF THE FUTURE

Today, as the Chicago Scots, the Society has grown into one of the world’s largest and most vital Scottish cultural organizations. The Chicago Scots organize events and initiatives that educate, entertain and promote Scottish culture - including the annual Scottish Festival and Highland Games which, in 2019 featured the largest bagpiping championship in North America.

Around the world there are many Scottish societies that celebrate Scotland’s culture, but there is only one that owns, operates and supports a senior care community - the Chicago Scots.

This event benefits the Chicago Scots’ principal charity, Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care.

2019 DISTINGUISHED CITIZENS

Presented in recognition of achievement of excellence and contributions to Society, the Distinguished Citizen Award is the highest honor the Chicago Scots can pay.

The Chicago Scots are proud to present the 2019 Distinguished Citizen Awards, to:

Bethany McLean, journalist and contributing editor at Vanity Fair.

Dan Casey, co-founder of Sterling Engineering.
