Topic: Martin Luther, John Knox, and Various Kinds of Christianity in 16th-Century Scotland
This talk will recall the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Protestant Reformation (1517-2017), and the recent 500th anniversary of the birth of John Knox (c.1514). We'll discuss how the actions and thinking of these two great religious reformers profoundly affected the development of Christianity and society in 16th-century Scotland. Some attention will be given as well to the continued place of Catholicism in the Early Modern Scottish experience.
Presenters: Karen Scott, Associate Professor, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, DePaul University
